Pierre Gasly: Tsunoda made a mistake and shifted on braking

Pierre Gasly believes that Yuki Tsunoda caused the collision on the seventh lap in the chicane at the exit of the tunnel when he began to shift under braking. However, the stewards of the race have a different opinion – they issued a warning to the Alpine rider. Franco Colapinto regained several positions and finished thirteenth.

Franco Colapinto (13th): "Starting from eighteenth place made it more difficult to score points, given the small number of events during the race. I must say that finishing in the thirteenth position is the maximum, taking into account the traffic and the different tactics of the teams. After the incident involving Pierre, we decided to make a pit stop earlier.

It turned out to be a difficult race, and she completed a difficult weekend in Monaco. We were hampered by balance issues in slow corners, and the team couldn't get the car to work the way we wanted it to.

We will continue to work hard ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, which will take place on a more familiar track."

Pierre Gasly (exit): "It's not good to end the race so early. It was a very disappointing result for the team, although we saw how things developed in the race, so there were few opportunities, given the start from the last positions.

As for the incident, I didn't expect Yuki to shift so much on braking. He made a mistake in front of the tunnel, then began to slow down on the left side of the track, and then began to shift to the right. In fact, I had nowhere to go.

I made a pit stop on the first lap and maybe there would have been more opportunities during the race. Most finished in the same positions they started in, with the exception of walkouts and penalties.

We are going to Spain, where we have to improve our performances."

Flavio Briatore, Acting team principal: "We were preparing for a difficult race, considering the starting positions. We wanted to try an alternative strategy with Pierre, so we made an early pit stop considering the opportunities that might arise. Then there was the incident with Tsunoda, who ended Pierre's race.

As we have seen, other teams have decided to play with interesting approaches to strategy. Franco did a good job, made no mistakes and showed a good pace, considering that he was in traffic. I'm sure he's learned a lot, and it will give him confidence.

In fact, we are not fast enough. The next race will be held in Spain on a standard track and with new wing requirements. Let's see how we do."
