Isaac Hajjar had the best qualification of his career
Isaac Hajjar clocked sixth time in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, and after a penalty from Lewis Hamilton, he moved up to fifth place. For a French racer, this is the best starting position of his career.
His Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson reached the qualifying final for the first time this season, where he clocked ninth time. Both drivers of the Faenza team qualified above the main driver of Red Bull Racing, Yuki Tsunoda.
Isaac Hajjar (6th): "I think this is the ideal result and the maximum we could achieve. The third practice session was difficult, and I didn't feel confident in the car before qualifying. To be honest, I wasn't even sure if I would make it to the finals, so sixth time is an amazing result.
We acted wisely and added step by step. The team made the right conclusions after each return to the pits, and thanks to the right decisions we moved forward. In the second session, I felt the car come alive.
We aimed to qualify well today, but now it's time to think about tomorrow's strategy. I am optimistic and I think that thanks to the two pit stops, the race will be interesting. Our car is quite capable of competing."
Liam Lawson (9th): "We were able to get the car up to speed in practice, and I feel quite comfortable this weekend. The team had a strong qualifying run – the car was fast, and I could have done better if it hadn't been for the tire and traffic problems in the final.
It's going to be an interesting race tomorrow thanks to the new two pit stop rule. We will try to use every opportunity and make the most of it. We plan to do our best, but the most important part of the weekend is already over. It's good that things are working out this way – I'm thrilled that the team reached the final with two cars. We have a good position, and I am positive."
