Mario Isola, Pirelli Racing Director: "What a qualification! A Saturday in Monaco always brings a lot of emotions, and so it was today. We watched with interest the performance of the C6 tires in qualifying, and I think that on this track, the softest compound in the 2025 lineup provided a little more efficiency than the C5. We're not talking about a big difference – it's a tenth of a second or one and a half tenths, but it definitely was.
We saw how some riders used Medium in qualifying – they are almost as fast, but just like last week at Imola, in some situations the C5 provides a lot of confidence, which is especially important on this track.
Usually Sundays in Monaco are less interesting than Saturdays, but I think this time the race will be different from usual. The changes to the sports regulations made specifically for this Grand Prix require the use of at least three sets of tires, which means that anything is possible in terms of lap range for pit stops. There are enough theoretical options, not to mention that a safety car is very likely to leave.
All three trains will be involved – the drivers of the three teams, Red Bull, Racing Bulls and Sauber, have only one set of new Hard and one Medium tires, so they will definitely have to use the C6 during the race.
We know how well teams use every opportunity to achieve their goals, and we can expect some surprises, including the length of the kickoff."
