Sauber expects that the complex of new products will have an effect

Sauber is preparing for the Spanish Grand Prix, the final race in a series of three consecutive stages, and one of the most important tasks facing the Swiss team right now is to make the next set of technical innovations work more efficiently.

Sauber is not doing well, its drivers have not scored a single point in the previous seven stages, but the team expects that attempts to improve the efficiency of the C45 chassis will still allow for an increase in speed. In addition, Hinville hopes that the new FIA directive related to the front fenders of cars may also affect the balance of power.

Jonathan Wheatley, team principal: "We will return to real racing in Barcelona, because effective aerodynamics are extremely important on this track, and we also need to see what the impact of the new rules regarding the front wing will be.

Initially, it was clear that the main factor influencing the nature of the Monaco Grand Prix would be the lack of overtaking opportunities, and some teams managed to avoid the usual time losses at pit stops due to this.

In Barcelona, we need to get a clearer picture of how the complex of technical innovations will affect the efficiency of our car. The team continues to work hard at the Hinwil base, and our main focus now is on working with new components to perform more consistently in the next stage of the season."

Nico Hulkenberg: "We all know the Barcelona circuit well – that's probably where I've done the most laps in a Formula 1 car. It helps us prepare for the upcoming weekend.

We will bring a set of novelties to this stage, and during training it is extremely important to understand as soon as possible how effectively it works and how to act in order to fully unleash its potential.

Recently, we have managed to achieve some improvements, the pace has increased slightly, but difficulties remain. If we can perform confidently in qualifying, it will create more favorable conditions for us to win back during the race. Recent track configuration changes have made racing in Barcelona more eventful."

Gabriel Bortoleto: "I am looking forward to the Barcelona stage: I have competed on this track more than once in the youth categories and I understand what to expect. The race in Monaco was quite difficult, but at the end of the weekend we learned the necessary lessons and now we are preparing for the next weekend in an intense series of three Grands Prix in a row.

We have prepared a number of new products for this stage, so the main task is to immediately figure out how they work, and at the same time to search for optimal settings in order to achieve better results in qualifying and the race."
