Lance Stroll has undergone another surgery on his hand and wrist injury, which became problematic just hours before he withdrew from the Spanish GP.

The absence of the Aston Martin driver from Barcelona on Sunday, leaving the team with only one car, has sparked intense media speculation. The team acknowledges that the 26-year-old, son of Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll, was "upset" after not participating in a routine FIA weighing procedure following qualifying, but denies that Lance re-injured his wrist because of a fit in the garage.

Regardless of the circumstances, Spanish outlets Diario Sport and Marca have reported that Stroll had surgery on Tuesday at the Quiron Dexeus hospital in Barcelona. The operation was performed by Dr. Xavier Mir, who reportedly treated Stroll in 2023 after his cycling accident.

Diario Sport, referring to "the driver’s entourage," states there are "every indication" that Stroll will be well enough to participate in his home grand prix in Montreal next weekend. Marca noted that the recent surgery was "not excessively complex."

Should Stroll be unable to compete in the Canadian GP, Aston Martin's main reserve driver is Felipe Drugovich, who is otherwise set to be in Le Mans.

“First of all, we need to wish Lance the best,” the Brazilian told local broadcaster Rede Bandeirantes. “Formula 1 has always been my priority and remains so. However, at this moment, I’m unsure what will happen next. The decision has not yet been made. As for Le Mans, I am prepared to drive (Stroll’s Aston Martin) if the team calls on me.”
