The titanium plates will remain until the end of the season.

During training in Barcelona, the FIA tested steel plates under the bottom instead of titanium plates in an attempt to avoid burning grass on the roadsides due to sparks flying from under the bottom, as was the case in Japan.

During these tests, a steel plate was placed on one of the cars of each team, and a titanium plate on the other to assess the difference.

Based on the test results, a compromise decision was made – titanium plates will be used until the end of the season, but teams should also bring steel plates in case they are needed.

"After reviewing the results of the steel plate tests in Barcelona, the FIA has revised the implementation plan outlined in technical directive TD015.

Titanium plates will remain mandatory until the end of the season. But teams must have stainless steel plates at all stages, as they may become mandatory in the event of a repeat of grass fire incidents, as happened in Suzuka.

Additional tests of the stainless steel plates will be carried out at separate stages for further evaluation," the FIA said in a statement.
