Rumors: Aston Martin is showing interest in Russell

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have existing contracts with Aston Martin to compete in Formula 1 in 2026, but this does not prevent the Silverstone team from evaluating other candidates.

The British newspaper The Times writes about Aston Martin's potential interest in George Russell. At the end of 2025, the 27-year-old driver's contract with Mercedes expires, and a new agreement has not yet been signed, although Toto Wolff assures that this is a matter of formalities.

However, according to The Times, the contract has not yet been signed, as Mercedes does not rule out the possibility of cooperation with Max Verstappen if the current world champion decides to leave Red Bull Racing at the end of the season.

The newspaper writes that "Aston Martin is among the teams showing interest in Russell" if he does not renew his contract with Mercedes.

Interestingly, David Croft, a commentator for the British Sky Sports F1 TV channel, also confirms Aston Martin's interest in George. Speaking on the F1 Show, Kroft said: "I was told that Aston Martin is actively chasing George Russell and wants to enlist his services in the future. So Red Bull, if Max leaves, may not be the only option for George."
