Sauber expects to make progress after success in Spain

At the Spanish Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg finished fifth, ahead of Lewis Hamilton, and earned ten points – more than Sauber for the entire last season. Team principal Jonathan Wheatley hopes that the result in Barcelona will be a "springboard" for even greater success in 2025.

Jonathan Whitley: "In Barcelona, we had a real racing car for the first time since I joined the team. It's a nice feeling. We have overtaken Ferrari! To be honest, it's a bit shocking, because we managed to do it at our own pace.

This is a very important result for the team, as everyone is working very hard. I hope that the result will be a springboard for our plan to move forward. I hope that we can build on the momentum we have gained.

The team continues to understand the features of the C45 machine. At the very beginning of the season, she lacked speed, so we took a huge step forward, and this is a credit to all those who work at the base.

The Barcelona circuit has remained the one that shows the true speed of the car since 1991. In general, if the car is fast in Barcelona, then it will be fast on most other tracks, so I'm looking forward to continuing the season."
