Ralf Schumacher: Hulkenberg and Verstappen get along well
Ralf Schumacher believes that Nico Hulkenberg would be a good fit to be Max Verstappen's team-mate at Red Bull Racing. According to the former Formula 1 racer, now an expert of the German TV channel Sky Deutschland, Max would have appreciated Hulkenberg more than some of his previous colleagues."
This year, the four–time world champion has already changed teammates - after two stages, Yuki Tsunoda took Liam Lawson's place, but this cannot be said to have led to noticeable changes in the results, although the Japanese rider has already earned points three times. However, his best result remains 9th place in Bahrain.
Schumacher, taking part in the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, suggested that Hulkenberg's candidacy would definitely be worth considering, including because the experienced German driver has a good relationship with Verstappen.
"I think they get along well with each other,– says Ralph. Besides, I think Verstappen would have appreciated him more than some of his former teammates. It's very important to find the right balance between theory, calculations and how a driver feels behind the wheel of a car on a real track.
I don't want to underestimate anyone, but I can well imagine that Sauber gets the most adequate information about the car's performance thanks to Hulkenberg."
Suffice it to say that Nico has already scored 20 points in 10 stages of the season, exactly as many as the previous riders of the Swiss team, Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, earned in the previous two years.
