Wolff: The rivals will be more competitive in Austria

At the last stage in Canada, George Russell brought Mercedes their first victory of the season, and his team-mate Kimi Antonelli reached the podium for the first time in his career. Before the Austrian Grand Prix, team principal Toto Wolff said that it would be difficult to repeat such success in Spielberg.

Toto Wolff: "The victory and the double podium in Montreal were a reward for the hard work of everyone in Brackley and Brixworth. Although we have made good progress with the car in recent weeks, we cannot expect the same level of performance every weekend.

The Gilles Villeneuve circuit, with its lack of fast turns and smoother asphalt, puts less strain on the tires, which suits our W16 car. The team took advantage of this and performed well, but we know that the rivals will be much more competitive in Austria this weekend.

Nevertheless, we are striving to maintain the momentum gained in Canada. The Spielberg track will be a good testing ground for our recent upgrades and another reference point for our progress.

There is still a long way to go before the end of the season. We will try to score as many points as possible and hopefully we can compete for the podium again."
