Sauber has established a technology center in England.
Sauber Motorsport announced the opening of a new Technology Center in Bicester, UK, aimed at supporting the main Audi F1 project base located in Hinwil, Switzerland.
As stated in today’s press release, another step has been taken in the process of transforming Sauber into an Audi factory team, which will debut in Formula 1 in 2026.
The new center in Oxfordshire will employ British engineers recruited for the Audi project, located within the Bicester Motion technological park, created in the heart of the "Automotive Valley." This region in southeastern England has the highest concentration of companies involved in the racing industry, including the bases of most British teams.
With the opening of its own center in Bicester, Audi F1 will have easier access to the "Automotive Valley" talent pool, as the specialists working there, not only British, possess a vast amount of knowledge and experience.
Mattia Binotto, Head of the Audi F1 Project: "The opening of the Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in Bicester is a significant milestone in Audi’s preparation for entry into Formula 1. This facility will allow us to tap into the ‘Automotive Valley’ talent community and further strengthen our technical capabilities.
At the same time, our new center will become part of the rapidly developing Bicester Motion cluster, which is literally alive and breathing racing. It will provide support to Hinwil, which will be an important factor for our long-term success."
