Lando Norris: We are well aware of the rules of the game.

Lando Norris, in good spirits, is preparing for his home British Grand Prix and intends to fight for the victory, but also understands where the line must not be crossed when competing with his teammate.

Lando Norris: "I am looking forward to each day of the British weekend, although, of course, I enjoy working on the track the most. But I also like everything else – meeting fans at the circuit, and yesterday’s McLaren show at Trafalgar Square in London – there was a truly unique atmosphere there.

Overall, there’s a lot of things I’m eagerly awaiting; all of it is very interesting. And if any of this helps distract me from the main goal, then these are positive distractions. Naturally, winning in Austria also brought me a lot of joy! But now I’m ready to get back behind the wheel.

On one hand, it’s hard to imagine anything surpassing a victory in Monaco, but I think I already said before that I would trade all my wins for a win at Silverstone. So I plan to fight for victory in the upcoming Grand Prix, although, of course, it will require a huge effort, and there’s still a lot to do.

The Silverstone round is my home race, and I have support from British fans here. If I manage to win, I will wear an even bigger smile than in Monaco. I’ve dreamed of winning the British Grand Prix since I was a kid, ever since I started watching Formula 1 races, and it’s at this track that I most want to succeed...

Of course, there are no guarantees that driving here will feel as comfortable as in Austria. Sometimes, it depends on factors like the asphalt surface characteristics and tire temperature – the variables can be anything. Everything worked out well in Austria, and in the final qualifying, I drove one of my best laps. Of course, at my home circuit, there’s extra motivation, and I want to replicate that success.

At Silverstone, you always hope that the fact it’s a home race will provide some additional advantage – I hope it will this weekend."

Of course, Norris was also asked about rivalry with his teammate: what is the line that must not be crossed?

"I’d say the red line is Canada!" – Lando replied with a smile. – "The red line is aggressive contact with a teammate’s car, which must not be allowed. That’s all. It’s both simple and not so simple at the same time. When you’re fighting on the track, the battle in every sense is pushing the limits, and it’s easy to make a mistake. We’re often called ‘the best drivers in the world,’ but that doesn’t mean we don’t make mistakes. Overall, we understand which line must not be crossed.

At the same time, of course, there are moments when the team will ask us to swap positions or do this or that, and the fight for victory is under team control. But in Austria, it was all under the motto: 'Let them race.' And we know the rules of the game well. Although, of course, we made the team nervous – that’s exactly what happened in the previous round.

But countless people worked hard to create these cars, and if we lose victory because of some silly mistake on the track, that’s what crossing the line means.

We are granted the freedom to compete with each other, but the main thing is not to do what I did in Canada."
