Andrea Stella: We are satisfied and have something to celebrate.
Andrea Stella commented on McLaren's another winning double, especially valuable because it all took place at Silverstone, the home race for Lando Norris and the entire Woking team.
"First of all, congratulations to the entire team, including everyone who worked on the pit wall today," emphasized McLaren Racing's boss. "Today, everyone acted very correctly and precisely, making the right decisions alongside the drivers despite difficult circumstances, and we managed to avoid trouble.
Oscar Piastri started very aggressively, rightly taking the lead, but unfortunately, he was penalized later, which prevented him from winning the race. However, Lando inherited the victory, so today is a very special day for him because he won his home race. Overall, we are satisfied and have something to celebrate."
Stella also shared his views on the penalty received by Oscar Piastri: "Certainly, we relayed our information to the race direction, primarily regarding the fact that, from our perspective, the decision to reintroduce the safety car onto the pit lane was made quite late.
As a result, the leading driver had little opportunity to take control of the situation and prepare for the restart procedure. Overall, we believe the penalty was harsh, but we will analyze all available information. As usual, we will try to draw lessons. But right now, there is little we can do. We will just have to accept it.
Of course, Oscar is upset now because he drove so well. But this is only the middle of the season, and there are still many opportunities to make up for it. I think this will serve as an additional motivation for Oscar."
