Pirelli is satisfied with how the tires handled the challenging British weather…
Mario Isola, Pirelli Motorsport Director: "It's hard to imagine a better way to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 than last weekend. I think the half a million people who attended Silverstone over four days had a great time, despite today's rain! Yesterday's qualifying was unpredictable, just like today's race. Congratulations to McLaren on the hat-trick and to Nico Hülkenberg on his first podium in Formula 1. Well-deserved result!
As in previous years, four out of five available tire types were used during the race. It's a pity we didn't see the full performance of the wet weather tires – it would have been interesting to evaluate their effectiveness alongside the intermediates, which looked really impressive today, performing well both in standing water and on nearly dry asphalt. Of course, due to the track conditions, we observed graining and significant wear, but the drivers managed their tire usage well.
Our work at Silverstone is not yet finished. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will return to the track to conduct prototype tire tests for 2026 together with Sauber and Aston Martin. Gabriel Bortolotti will drive for the Swiss team on both days, while Lance Stroll and Felipe Drugovich will share the Aston Martin car."
