Qualifying
Max Verstappen secured his 44th career pole position and his fourth of the season by winning qualifying at Silverstone. This matches Sebastian Vettel’s record for Red Bull poles.
The 107th pole position allowed Red Bull Racing to tie with Lotus for fifth place in the all-time standings.
Oscar Piastri qualified second, becoming the first teammate of Lando Norris to do so at Silverstone. Norris started third at Silverstone for the second consecutive year.
Lewis Hamilton qualified fifth, marking his third time surpassing teammate Charles Leclerc in the last four Grands Prix. Leclerc qualified sixth. Last year, none of the Ferrari cars made it into the top six in qualifying at Silverstone.
Oliver Bearman’s eighth place in qualifying was his best career result.
For the third time this season, both Sauber cars were eliminated in the first part of qualifying.
Race
Lando Norris won the British Grand Prix, marking his fourth victory of the season and eighth in his career.
This was McLaren’s first win at Silverstone since 2008, when Lewis Hamilton triumphed, and the team’s 198th victory overall.
Norris became the 13th British driver to win a home Grand Prix; in total, British drivers have achieved 31 victories at Silverstone.
Oscar Piastri finished second – McLaren achieved its fifth win of the season and the 54th 1-2 finish in its history. In this regard, the team ranks third in the all-time standings, behind Mercedes with 60 wins.
Nico Hülkenberg, finishing third, ended a record streak of 238 Grands Prix without a podium. This was Sauber’s first podium since 2012 when Kamui Kobayashi finished third at Suzuka.
Hülkenberg started 19th – the lowest starting position for a podium finisher in the 32-year history of Sauber. He became the 218th driver in Formula 1 history to reach the podium.
Lewis Hamilton, finishing fourth, repeated his best result with Ferrari in his second race with the team. He ended a record streak of 12 consecutive podiums at Silverstone.
Finishing fifth, Max Verstappen is 69 points behind the championship leader after the first half of the season.
Pierre Gasly’s sixth place was Alpine’s best result this season.
With only one point for George Russell’s 10th place, Mercedes failed to reach the podium at Silverstone for the first time since 2012.
Eight teams scored points at Silverstone – the highest number this season.
Yuki Tsunoda finished 15th at Silverstone for the second consecutive race, ending last.
Kimi Räikkönen withdrew for the fourth time in the last six races.
