Formula E: Training canceled, qualifying postponed
These days in Berlin, on the track laid out on the old Tempelhof airfield, a double round of the World Electric Car Championship is taking place, but the weekend schedule has been disrupted by bad weather.
Since the night, Berlin has been experiencing heavy rain, which continued into the morning, and under these conditions, the second practice on Saturday had to be canceled — there was too much standing water on the track.
However, on Friday it was dry, and the drivers were able to work on the Berlin circuit in more favorable conditions. Unfortunately, there were some incidents: Pascal Verlaine posted the best time in yesterday’s practice, but he didn’t share the track with António Felix da Costa, his teammate at Porsche, and sent the Portuguese into the wall.
For this, the reigning world champion was penalized, including receiving a penalty point on his license and losing three starting places. He Currently ranks second in the standings, but is already 69 points behind the leader.
It is uncertain how the two Berlin races will turn out for him, but there is a mathematical probability that Oliver Rowland, a Nissan factory driver, could secure the championship title early this weekend.
Meanwhile, the weather remains challenging, and although the rain has eased somewhat, the start of qualifying has been postponed.
