Ecclestone can help Horner buy Alpine shares.
Christian Horner, who was dismissed last week from Red Bull Racing, may become a co-owner of the Alpine team with financial support from Bernie Ecclestone. Dutch Formula 1 commentator Nelson Valkenburg revealed this in a recent episode of The Race podcast.
Christian Horner's personal wealth is estimated at several tens of millions of dollars, which is insufficient to buy a Formula 1 team worth around 1.5 billion dollars. However, Bernie Ecclestone is reportedly willing to support his long-time friend and finance the deal.
"I have a feeling that in the end, Horner will end up at Alpine," Nelson Valkenburg said. "I've seen him many times speaking with Luca de Meo, who has left, and Horner spent many hours with Flavio Briatore. His main goal is to become a team owner, and this team is partly up for sale."
There are rumors in the paddock that with Bernie Ecclestone's financial backing, Christian may purchase a minority stake in Alpine. But if it happens, it won't be before January, as he will still have contractual obligations to Red Bull until then. However, if I had to bet, I would say that Horner will end up at Alpine in the future, but it won't happen very soon.
