Gasly: Races at Spa always evoke intense emotions

On the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix, the Alpine team remembers Antoine Hubert, the French driver who tragically lost his life at Spa in 2019 during a Formula 2 race. On Thursday evening, Pierre Gasly will host the traditional memorial event: drivers and all F1, F2, and F3 team members are invited to participate in a run around the track...

Pierre Gasly: "It's great that we’re returning to Spa after achieving a decent result at the previous race in Silverstone. The team was pleased that I finished sixth there after a very tough race, but racing on the track was truly fun.

During the break between the UK and Belgium events, I worked with the team at the Enstone base, and I had the opportunity to speak with all staff members and thank them for their hard work this year. Additionally, it was important to work on the simulator, tackling tasks related both to this season’s car and preparations for 2026.

After that, I went to Mallorca to recharge before the upcoming doubleheader races.

As for the upcoming weekend, racing at Spa always stirs complex emotions in me, and I’ve spoken about this several times in previous years. I like this track, with its famous corners, and driving them in an F1 car is a real pleasure. But this circuit also brings sad memories for me and many others.

On Thursday evening, we will hold a run on the track dedicated to the memory of my friend Antoine Hubert. All F1, F2, and F3 team members are invited to join us in running or walking a lap around the track... Together with friends from MP Motorsport, we will also honor Dilan Van't Hoff (the Dutch FRegional driver who died at Spa two years ago).

As every year, we will pay tribute to Antoine and Dilan, and I hope this will become another important and special moment."

Franco Colapinto: "I’m glad there was a break between races after Silverstone. Reflecting on the British weekend, I can say that there were both successful moments and problems for the team. Pierre performed excellently and achieved our best result of the season, earning a few more points.

For my part of the garage, the weekend ended in disappointment as we couldn’t even start the race on Sunday. But we learned important lessons and dedicated time at the team base to analyzing everything that happened, as well as preparing for the two remaining races before the summer break...

I feel rested and ready to return to racing at Spa. We will do our best during the next two race weekends and start the second half of the season in a good mood."
