James Walls: A fantastic day!
Spa qualification brought Williams their best result of the season – Alexander Albon posted fifth place…
Team principal James Vowles: "A fantastic day! In the morning, Carlos finished sixth in the sprint, and in the afternoon, Alex took fifth – our best qualifying result since last year's Las Vegas.
After Friday, we made some adjustments, and many of them worked. I am optimistic about Sunday. The weather will surely play a role, but we have good positions and two strong drivers."
Alex Albon (5th): "I'm very pleased. We addressed the issue that arose on Friday, which was important. It's hard to gain time on a difficult lap, so I wasn't expecting such a big breakthrough in the final. The tire window is very narrow, but we managed to get into it. We have a good race pace, which should help tomorrow."
Carlos Sainz (15th): "I'm disappointed. I did a good lap in the first session, but in the second, I couldn't get better grip to gain time. We tried different balance options and experimented with settings throughout the weekend, but today, everything went wrong.
I hope there's a chance to recover tomorrow. It might rain, so we will focus on our work – the weekend is not over yet."
