Maranello turns its focus to the 2026 car while Vasseur remains in his position.

"All the teams share the same circumstances."

Ferrari plans to keep team principal Frederic Vasseur at least until 2026, as the Maranello team is winding down its in-season car development to concentrate on the new Formula 1 regulations that will take effect next year.

According to a report from Swiss newspaper Blick this week: "Ferrari seems to have adopted a new quality - patience. The Maranello team aims to extend Fred Vasseur's contract (57) during the summer break."

The timing works in Vasseur's favor, as Ferrari’s recent upgrade—a new rear suspension introduced in Spa—helped Charles Leclerc secure third place. Although teammate Lewis Hamilton faced a challenging weekend, the team stands firm that the development decision was the right one.

"I believe we need to complete the fine-tuning," Vasseur stated. "We anticipated it would be difficult to integrate the new features during a sprint weekend, but we preferred not to postpone their debut until Budapest.

"Yes, on Friday we couldn't conduct a proper long run to establish some benchmarks, but I still think it was wise to introduce the new components as it served as preparation for the race in Hungary."

Vasseur acknowledged that the team is now adjusting its focus: "All the teams are in the same situation. As the season comes to a close, more attention shifts to next year.

"We will still provide a few minor updates related to the track, weather, or other factors, but no significant new features will be introduced."

His deputy, Jerome D’Ambrosio—a former F1 driver from Belgium—joined Ferrari after starting his management career as Toto Wolff’s deputy at Mercedes.

"For any motorsport fan, Ferrari is a brand that embodies a significant part of the history of Formula 1 and automotive culture," D’Ambrosio shared with RTBF.

"The first day you arrive at Ferrari is something special. In Maranello, the atmosphere is centered around the team. It’s unparalleled. When you grab a coffee there, conversations revolve around the latest race or the weekend, filled with passion."

He continued: "I am passionate about my work; I enjoy collaborating with Fred and the entire team. The thrill of winning, whether from the driver’s seat or from the pit wall, delivers the same exhilaration. I’m very pleased to have transitioned from one side of the barrier to the other, without feeling any loss."
