Gasly supports the new Renault CEO during Alpine's challenges.

"I believe we've made advancements behind the scenes."

Pierre Gasly stated that Alpine's direction remains intact despite significant changes at the top of Renault, including the unexpected departure of CEO Luca de Meo. This week, Francois Provost was introduced as the new chief executive of Renault, leading to renewed doubts about the manufacturer's long-term dedication to Formula 1 and its support for the beleaguered advisor Flavio Briatore.

"It's very clear," Gasly remarked. "He has been with Renault for a long time. He understands the essence of the group and the team. He is fully dedicated to the sport and the Formula 1 team, and he clearly wants to see results, supporting everyone within the team."

Gasly acknowledged that the car hasn't improved since Barcelona but praised the team for their consistent execution in recent races. "Regardless of our current situation, over the past few weekends, we’ve managed to optimize our performance. In Silverstone and Spa, our strategy was excellent, and all the right decisions were made. I wish we had more performance, but we are struggling with this car."

Despite Alpine being in tenth place in the constructors’ standings, Gasly remains hopeful about future progress. "Steve [Nielsen] will join in September, and his influence will primarily be felt in 2026 and beyond. This season is what we have. Whether we finish eighth, ninth, or tenth, we're essentially fighting for nothing. However, if it sets us up for a car capable of wins and podiums next year, I would welcome that every day."

While Gasly is performing well, teammate Franco Colapinto is under increasing pressure. The rookie admitted, "From the beginning, I've said I don’t feel confident in the car. I have issues entering corners and managing the car's balance while doing so, which doesn’t help my confidence."

"I believe we've made strides behind the scenes," he added. "But when those improvements aren't reflected in the results, it's tough to maintain motivation."
