Pierre Gasly: The race revealed our weaknesses

The Hungary race was the ninth in a season out of fourteen in which the Alpine team did not score points. Franco Colapinto lost time at each of the two pit stops, and Pierre Gasly received a 10-second penalty for colliding with Carlos Sainz, which dropped him to 19th place in the race results.

Franco Colapinto (18th): "It wasn’t the best day, and the race was challenging for the team. At times, on an empty track, I had good pace. I believe we made a step forward in working with the car, which gives me confidence. However, I lost time on the pit lane and because of blue flags, so opportunities to do better were limited.

The start went well, but from the very first lap I began losing positions. The rear tires lacked grip with the track, so the car was sliding, which showed later in the race. We switched to a two-stop strategy, but unfortunately, each of them encountered problems that took longer than expected. The team usually performs well during pit stops, but sometimes things happen like today.

The summer break is needed for rest and preparation for the next round at Zandvoort. We need to understand where progress is possible."

Pierre Gasly (19th): "We can’t be pleased with today’s result, although it seemed we had a decent performance. In the end, we are simply too slow. In the previous two weekends, we managed to get the most out of the conditions and achieved two good results.

Today’s race was more traditional and revealed our weak spots. Still, I enjoyed fighting — it went quite well. I come to the Grand Prix to race, not to give up, and I will always do my best in wheel-to-wheel battles.

The team and I will remain in Budapest for tire testing before the summer break. We have all worked very hard and earned a few weeks of rest. Afterward, the team will continue working, focusing mainly on preparations for 2026. But at the same time, we aim to return to form in the remaining part of the season."
