George Russell: The balance of power has unexpectedly shifted.

George Russell is glad that the podium at Hungaroring allowed him to end Mercedes' losing streak...

Question: Congratulations, George. What does this podium mean to you?

George Russell: It's nice to be back on the podium. The last six races have been quite challenging for our team, so now we can go into the break in good spirits.

Question: How do you explain the team's progress at Hungaroring?

George Russell: We returned to some of our previous solutions. Earlier, we developed a new rear suspension, but it didn't work as we had hoped.

But this was a unique weekend. The balance of power unexpectedly shifted. Behind the top three, the finishers came in in an unusual order. Obviously, Max was out of place. Aston Martin suddenly gained pace. I don't think we should overestimate the significance of these results. But in terms of speed, this was our best race of the season, apart from Canada.

Question: When overtaking Charles Leclerc, you were unhappy with how he defended. What did he do wrong?

George Russell: When you're cruising down a straight at 330 km/h and entering a corner, the car is on the verge of losing grip. You can't just brake and turn to overtake someone, so I very clearly indicated my intentions by diving inside, and he moved late after he had begun braking, which is prohibited.

He did this once. I didn't like it. The second time, I decided to attack on the inside radius, but he did it again, and we touched. I was glad I was able to pass.

I think when you see this on TV, you think, "Why don't you just turn to avoid a collision?" But as I already mentioned, at that moment you're pushing the car to its limits.
