Leo Turini on Hungary and Leclerc's statistics
Famous Italian journalist Leo Turrini regrets that starting from pole in Hungary did not bring Ferrari even a podium...
Another pole for Leclerc, another defeat for Ferrari. Interesting numbers: Leclerc has won only five races out of 27 in which he started from pole. 80% of Leclerc's poles did not lead to victory. He ranks third in this unfortunate list after my friend René Arnoux and David Coulthard. Charles has only eight wins in his career, and this number does not reflect the driver's talent.
Only one of Leclerc's last 16 poles managed to convert into a victory – in Monaco 2024. Moreover, he has achieved just one win after his last 23 starts from the front row – in Monaco 2024.
I started with statistics to clarify that it doesn't matter whether, as the official version states, the worn diffuser was the cause of the problems.
Recently confirmed Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur is right to say that in today's Formula 1, it's critically important to be able to put everything together. Clearly, that goal has not yet been achieved.
After this, there's no point in beating around the bush: now, in August 2025, Ferrari is racing with only one driver. That means Hamilton is not there. Lewis deserves universal respect. He has made history; he is history. And I do not believe he is indifferent to his mistakes. But everything has its limit.
If Leclerc is fighting for pole and a podium, Hamilton should be close. Exactly so: otherwise, it’s inexplicable why he races for the Maranello team behind the wheel of the red car.
Only Lewis knows the truth. If he has it. If he does, let him show it. Without resorting to coded messages that leave even his fans confused.
I will conclude with a McLaren dictatorship: sooner or later Norris, who won, and Piastri will turn on each other.
Alonso is touching.
Lopez and Bortolotto are superb.
