446 laps by three drivers on the first day of Pirelli tests
The first day of the latest Pirelli test session at Hungaroring has concluded, where tire manufacturers are working with rubber for the 2026 season. Today, three teams participated in the tests – McLaren, Racing Bulls, and Alpine provided specially modified cars, mechanics, and drivers.
In McLaren and Alpine, 2023 cars were used for the tests, while Racing Bulls used 2024 models. The teams had no information about the design and composition of the tires being tested by Pirelli – they received unlabeled tires with a digital index, and all will receive summarized test results later.
The best time was set by Paul Aron driving for Alpine – 1:18.789, completing 159 laps during the day. Lando Norris had the second-fastest time (1:19.272 and 144 laps), and Liam Lawson was third (1:19.510 and 143 laps).
The tests will continue tomorrow, with Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly taking the wheel of the Alpine, while Charles Leclerc will work at Ferrari.
