Penalties after the Hungarian Grand Prix
The FIA uses a penalty point system for the superlicense to reduce the number of infractions. Each violation is penalized with a certain number of points; their total over 12 months must not exceed twelve—otherwise, the driver is disqualified for one race, as happened in 2024 with Kevin Magnussen. After 12 months, the penalty points are cleared.
Next time the penalty points will expire is September 1—this includes two points for Hulkenberg received during last year's Italian Grand Prix.
After the Hungarian Grand Prix, fourteen drivers have unexpired penalty points. The leader in this regard is Max Verstappen.
