Verstappen criticizes stewards regarding the Hungary investigation.
"I doubt Lewis was particularly interested in it either."
Max Verstappen has criticized the Formula 1 stewards for looking into his overtaking maneuver on Lewis Hamilton during the Hungarian Grand Prix, despite there being no contact and no penalties imposed. "I actually find it unfortunate that I have to return to the stewards after the race. They should just evaluate it while the race is happening," Verstappen stated to Viaplay. "I got my nose really close to him, and he seemed surprised. He ended up driving off the track, so I’m not entirely sure what unfolded there." The FIA later clarified that Hamilton's Ferrari was not pushed off the track, highlighting that a team representative indicated the driver “opted not to try to stay on the track.” "We presented our account. Well, I did, since Lewis wasn’t present," Verstappen explained. "I don’t think Lewis was particularly interested either. We both had a tough weekend, so this is a very minor issue." Verstappen concurred with the decision not to take action but emphasized that the main issue is the complexity of the rules. "The situation is always ambiguous," remarked the Red Bull driver. "It’s odd that we had to visit the stewards when there wasn’t any contact to begin with. The problem is that there are just too many rules nowadays." Russian commentator Alexey Popov labeled the delayed process "a disgrace," stating: "They released one set of results, and then three hours later, another. This shouldn’t happen." Hamilton mentioned to the media that he doesn’t even recall the incident. Meanwhile, his performance with Ferrari continues to attract attention, including comments from Bernie Ecclestone. "He needs a complete reset," the former F1 chief was quoted as saying by De Telegraaf. "He’s fatigued. He truly requires a break. He has seven world titles, and that’s more than sufficient." Regarding Ferrari’s options, Ecclestone remarked: "If I had the chance, I’d go for Isack Hadjar. I also value our Brazilian friend (Gabriel Bortoleto) - he’s quite talented."
