REC: Fourth stage of the season on August 9 at Moscow Raceway
On Saturday, August 9th, the Russian Endurance Racing Series (REC) returns to Moscow Raceway. Thirty teams, including new participants, will line up for the Autoreadio REC 4-hour Grand Prix.
As the series approaches its final two rounds, the overall standings have become unpredictable, with different teams leading in the previous stages: №33 Time4Race on Mercedes AMG-GT3, №37 Iskra Motorsport on Lamborghini Huracan EVO GT3, and №013 Capital RT on Mercedes AMG-GT3.
In the drivers' championship, the top positions are held by Mikhail Aleshyn and his experienced teammate Denis Remenyako (Capital RT), followed by the pilot crew of sports prototype №29 (TEAMGARIS): Konstantin Tereshchenko, Konstantin Zakharovsky, and Stanislav Zakharuk. The third place is held by multiple international endurance race participant Sergey Stolyarov from YADRO Motorsport.
In the GT Pro class, the number of participants is increasing. For the fourth REC stage, new team V Racing fields an Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO2 №41, marking their debut in the GT class after their first start in the previous round. This is already the eighth GT3 car in the series standings.
The competition heats up further as team №33 Iskra Motorsport (winner of the first REC stage) has not been able to repair their car after the second stage and will miss a second race in a row.
In the sports prototype CN Pro class, leadership remains firmly with №29 TEAMGARIS. Last year’s favorite, Blackthorn №111, is currently only fourth in the series. Additionally, Balchug Racing №21 has lost some pace compared to last season, holding third place behind №31 SVL CSKA Racing.
In the GT class, a new crew will join on Saturday: BMW E-92 team OBAGRA RT №78, which has never participated in REC in this class before and moved from GT Light after the third stage.
The class leader is currently team SHISHKOIL&YUKA ADV PRO RT with crew №1 on Mercedes AMG-GT4. However, Capital RT №13 and YADRO Motorsport №48 (also on Mercedes AMG-GT4) trail by just a few points, making the standings more unpredictable.
The GT Light class has become a real sensation after three races. Leading into Saturday’s MRW stage is crew №53 Mazda Karting Academy. Despite their leadership, they are eighth fastest in the class, trailing the fastest car on the Igora Drive track at 44.4 km/h (179.7 vs. 224.1 km/h).
Crew №53 maintains their lead in GT Light despite a severe penalty from the previous round for a regulation violation involving a driver changing. A 5-minute pit lane stop all but ruined MKA’s chances of victory.
Trailing by 21 points behind №53 Mazda Karting Academy is crew №11 HOGO in second place, with crew №444 Club Seat RT in third.
Anastasia Bendikova, REC General Organizer: "Teams are quickly recovering after a very tough Igora Drive stage, where rain and heat created a real marathon test for thirty-five participants.
More than thirty crews have registered for the upcoming round. Any organizer is pleased when the competition results are unpredictable. We ourselves are eagerly awaiting the August 9th stage. It’s a pity that Russian cars are still not on the start line, but we are waiting. And for the final race in October, new crews are already signing up."
Spectators at the track can enjoy additional entertainment and programs. There will be a free children’s zone, a sports recreation area, and many other activities. Entrance to the race track opens at 13:30, pre-race procedures begin at 16:30, and the race start is at 17:00.
