Formula 3 champion Camara will continue his career in Formula 2.
Rafael Camara clinched the Formula 3 title early by winning Sunday’s race in Hungary. The Brazilian driver is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, and Jérôme d'Ambrosio, who oversees the Scuderia's junior programme, confirmed that in 2026 Rafael will move up to Formula 2.
Jérôme d'Ambrosio: "I don't think we could have expected anything more from Rafael. He started the season strongly and handled tense situations exceptionally well — Sunday's race in Hungary illustrates that better than anything.
He was fighting for the championship on a wet and very slippery track; he could easily have made a mistake because he was driving on the limit. He chose when to attack, when to break away from his pursuers, and he had everything under control.
My words may sound harsh, but when we're talking about a talent like Rafael, you expect nothing less. Our task is to support him so that he can show what he can do and fully realise his talent.
Rafael definitely deserves a rest ahead of the Monza round. He will fly to Brazil, spend time with his family, and then preparations for next year will begin. But first we need to finish this season.
Camara's next step will be a move to Formula 2. He faces a tough challenge, so we must prepare as well as we can."
