Vettel: It's quite possible that I'll return.
Recently Sebastian Vettel was a guest on a sports programme on ZDF, the main topic of which was the German team's participation in the international regatta SailGP. He was invited to that discussion along with other participants in the project, since he is one of the investors in the German team.
But Formula 1 was also discussed, and the four-time world champion, who ended his career in 2022, does not rule out that he might return to the sport.
"Not as a driver — that time has passed," he stressed. "But it's quite possible that I will return in one role or another. For now, though, I'm satisfied with everything, and I have things to keep me busy."
And he added with a laugh: "At home I get great pleasure messing around with the kids, and someone has to drive the tractor. So, who knows how things will turn out."
Vettel mentioned the tractor for a reason, as he is currently getting into the agricultural business and is enthusiastically involved in environmental projects. As for talk that he might sign a contract with Porsche's factory team competing in the World Endurance Championship, Vettel said: "I drove a WEC car once because I was curious. I liked it, but it didn't go any further for now. However, I still have time."
His remark about "one role or another" in Formula 1 can be interpreted in the sense that 82-year-old Helmut Marko's contract with Red Bull expires in 2026, and the Austrian company's motorsport advisor has already hinted that he considers Vettel his ideal successor in that post.
