Valtteri Bottas: The summer break is a very important time
Valtteri Bottas is currently, as he is every year, spending time in his homeland, Finland, where he has a country house near the city of Lahti. But before the start of the summer break, Mercedes, the team he works with as a reserve driver, enlisted him to create a short video dedicated to this period of the season, which is really important for everyone in the championship.
In the footage we see Valtteri, a glass of some refreshing drink in his hand, lounging on the sofa and explaining the most important points related to the summer break.
Valtteri Bottas: "The summer break is a very important time for teams and drivers when they recover and leave what’s already in the past behind.
But after the Hungarian Grand Prix teams still have a week to work at their bases in an effort to make improvements and analyse what has been done. The rules that must be observed during the 14-day summer break are as follows: during this period no activity related to Formula 1 is permitted.
During these days team bases must be closed. The rules also apply to engine manufacturers, which means our engine department in Brixworth must also be closed during this period.
But while we are all resting, certain maintenance work is carried out at the team's Brackley base — after all, we need to make sure we still look great. Well, for example, like me!
Teams will return to their bases on Monday, August 25 — the break will be over, after which we have races at Zandvoort and Monza, with a one-week gap between them."
At that line Valtteri once again brought the glass to his lips…
