F1 racing is 'done' for Vettel, but he sees possibilities in other roles.
"Not as a driver - that time has passed."
Sebastian Vettel has definitely ruled out a return to Formula 1 as a driver but remains open to exploring other opportunities within the sport. While speaking to ZDF Sportstudio alongside members of the Germany SailGP team he co-owns, the four-time world champion commented, "The kids are incredibly enjoyable at home, and I have to drive the tractor. But who knows."
When asked directly about F1, Vettel stated, "No. Not as a driver - that time is over. However, it is completely conceivable to take on one or two positions." For the time being, the 38-year-old emphasizes that he is "really happy and has plenty to occupy him."
Earlier this year, Vettel had been rumored to be considering a possible non-driving role with Red Bull, potentially taking Dr. Helmut Marko's place. However, with Christian Horner's exit, Marko's position seems to be stable, causing the speculation to die down.
Vettel’s recent "who knows" comment hints at the possibility of a part-time racing return outside of F1. He tested a Porsche 963 last year amid discussions of a potential Le Mans entry, but nothing definitive has transpired. "I drove a car like that once out of interest," the German clarified. "It was enjoyable, but nothing else has come from it so far. Yet, I still have some time."
Currently, Vettel’s competitive ambitions are partially focused on sailing through his SailGP participation and partially at home. "I have plenty to keep me busy," he remarked with a smile.
