Logan Sargeant will compete in two races in the IMSA series.

Almost immediately after the news that Logan Sargeant had entrusted his career to Oliver Gavin Motorsport Management (OGMM), it became known that the former Formula 1 driver would be back behind the wheel as early as September.

Sargeant signed a contract with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports and will compete for them at the two final rounds of the American IMSA championship at Indianapolis and at the road course Road Atlanta in the state of Georgia.

The 24-year-old driver from Florida, who was dismissed from Williams last year, will now pilot an Oreca 07 LMP2 prototype — he already had experience with similar machinery in 2021, when he ran a couple of races in the European Le Mans Series, and he took part in tests in September 2024, but that did not lead to anything further.

Sargeant’s teammates will be 26-year-old Dane Benjamin Pedersen and 50-year-old American Navin Rao, who is actually a serious businessman and competes in endurance racing more for his own enjoyment, but has nevertheless achieved some success.

“I’m very happy to be back in the car and to contest the final two races of the season driving an LMP2 for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports,” Sargeant said. “It’s a great opportunity to race at two special tracks, Indianapolis and Road Atlanta, and to help my teammates achieve good results. I really want to contribute to the team’s success; I’m ready to share my knowledge and experience with all my colleagues.”
