Ralf Schumacher: Antonelli should be given time

      Kimi Antonelli is clearly behind George Russell, his experienced Mercedes teammate, although he did make the podium in Canada — where Russell won — finishing third. But immediately after that there was a marked drop in results, and only in Hungary did the 18-year-old Italian manage to return to the top ten.

      Ralf Schumacher believes he certainly has talent, but the young championship debutant needs to be given time. However, he is not inclined to overestimate Antonelli's gift.

      "I believe in Kimi, he's a good driver, but he simply needs time," the motorsport veteran, now a Sky Deutschland expert, told Bild. "When everything comes together, he's quick, but it's clear this car is too complicated for him. I wouldn't call him the next Max Verstappen, that's for sure."
