Bottas shared an impressive photo after the cycling race.

Today is a rare day when I have to tell about the consequences of unsafe adventures experienced by two motorsport veterans at once.

We already wrote about the injuries Daniel Ricciardo sustained after falling off a motocross bike, and later in the evening it became known that Valtteri Bottas also found himself in some kind of scrape today.

On Saturday he took part in the Nordic gravel cycling championships, and in his age group he was due to cover a 71 km course that ran around the Swedish town of Halmstad.

These are the photos Valtteri shared following today’s, already second, stage of the competition. He doesn’t say exactly what happened, but captioned the shots with a phrase of just a few words that can be translated as: “A light day out in nature.”

Of course, these photos immediately drew many sympathetic comments. One fan wrote, “Good thing you were wearing a helmet,” another recalled a long-ago incident involving another rider: “Mark Webber warned you, be more careful!”, and a third quipped, “You look like a miner after a 12-hour shift in a coal mine.”

Be that as it may, it seems Valtteri still managed to make it to the finish: in the day’s final classification he is 23rd in the men’s 35–39 age group. A little later he did clarify that nothing particularly dramatic had happened, merely that he was hampered by technical problems. Nevertheless, it’s another example that no challenge scares Finnish guys.
