Alonso: Palou's level allows him to compete in Formula 1

Fernando Alonso commented on rumours that Red Bull Racing are considering inviting four-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou to be Max Verstappen's teammate.

Although Chip Ganassi, the owner of the team Palou races for, has already denied the possibility of Alex moving to Formula 1, Fernando Alonso believes his compatriot has everything needed to succeed.

"You can say with confidence that if the move does happen, it will be a challenge for him," Fernando Alonso says. "Formula 1 features excellent drivers and teams, and he would have to get used to new circuits and deal with many other things. However, his talent and level of preparation will allow him to adapt quickly.

In the end, it all depends on the car that will be at his disposal. If you find yourself at the back of the grid, it can create the impression that you are not able to adapt and that you have problems with certain things. And you make more mistakes trying to compensate for the car's shortcomings. But if you have a fast car at your disposal, everything becomes somewhat easier.

But I am sure his level allows him to compete in Formula 1. And if Alex gets a chance, I will be very happy for him."
