McLaren has identified the cause of Norris's retirement.
Lando Norris retired from the Dutch Grand Prix while running second and battling for the lead. At first everything pointed to a power unit problem and an oil leak, but team principal Andrea Stella said this was not the case.
Andrea Stella: "During the inspection of the car we identified a chassis issue and will carry out a full inspection ahead of the Monza weekend to avoid a repeat of such a failure. This is the first technical problem we've had after a long period of flawless performance. Reliability has long been one of McLaren's strengths, but this time the issue led to a retirement. We will draw conclusions and ensure there are no further such failures."
