Andrea Stella: There should be no room for complacency.
McLaren has not yet officially confirmed which driver Alex Dunne will replace in the first practice in Monza, but he is expected to pilot Oscar Piastri's car. The Australian leads the drivers' championship by 34 points, but Lando Norris is not going to give up and is determined to fight for wins.
Lando Norris: "I'm looking forward to returning to Monza. The Italian Grand Prix is always great — the fans there are truly passionate and the speeds are very high, so driving on this circuit is fun.
I'm focused on preparing for this weekend; I intend to give it my all and fight for the win. The team is doing a great job, we have a very fast car, so I'll try to extract its potential as much as possible. Time to get to work!"
Oscar Piastri: "I'm genuinely excited ahead of the Monza weekend. The weekend in Zandvoort went great, and I'm determined to build on that success in Italy. A year ago I finished second there and I'm now working hard to move up one step.
Huge thanks to everyone on our team who works at the track and at the base in Woking for such a wonderful car!"
Andrea Stella, team principal: "Next up is the Italian Grand Prix, an event many fans look forward to every year. It is one of the most popular and fastest circuits on the calendar. We'll also see Alex Dunne at the wheel of the MCL39; he will take part in the first practice on Friday.
Last weekend we experienced mixed emotions, but after a thorough analysis of the factors that led to Lando's retirement in Zandvoort, the team has fully switched its focus to the remaining nine rounds of the championship.
We will continue to perform at the highest level, but there should be no room for complacency — we cannot relax, because the line separating victories from disappointments is very thin. The team and the drivers remain battle-ready and this weekend in Monza will try to fully demonstrate the pace we are capable of on this circuit, where cars need to be set up for minimum downforce, and that brings its own challenges."
