Pierre Gasly: It's time to win another trophy!

In 2020 Pierre Gasly, then driving for AlphaTauri, climbed to the top step of the podium in Monza, and his victory in the Italian Grand Prix still remains his only win. But even now, five years later, he recalls that glorious achievement as one of the most important moments of his career. Pierre Gasly: "Every day, when I wake up at home, I admire this trophy while I drink my morning coffee. It gives me energy and is a great motivator. Of course, a lot of time has passed since then—five whole years—and it's about time to win another trophy! But the memories of that race in Monza will always hold a special place for me." After the penalty Carlos Sainz received in Zandvoort for the incident with Liam Lawson, the paddock at the Italian Grand Prix is once again debating which manoeuvres and actions are considered acceptable and which go beyond the rules. "In my opinion, overall the rules work more or less fine," says the French Alpine driver. "But I must say I'm somewhat puzzled (after Sainz's penalty), and this will need to be discussed at tomorrow's drivers' briefing. It seemed to me that before the situation that arose during the race in Zandvoort everything was clear, but there it wasn't so straightforward, and we are going to discuss it."
