Turkey, Germany and Portugal want to return.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said in Monza that representatives of three circuits that previously hosted Formula 1 rounds – in Portugal, Turkey and Germany’s Hockenheim – want to return to the calendar.

Stefano Domenicali: “We’ve signed new long-term contracts with many promoters, which allows us to plan investments.

We have a lot of new proposals. In 2026 Zandvoort will host its last Grand Prix and we are discussing a replacement, including alternating rounds. But there will be few of them – one or two, no more. In Barcelona they want their round to alternate with another.

There are requests from Portugal, Turkey, and recently interest has been shown in Hockenheim, where the owner has changed. The main thing potential hosts must understand is that there are very few free slots on the calendar, so those sitting at the negotiating table need financial support.

The situation is different from what it was a few years ago, not in terms of participation fees, but also in terms of the investments required. We are actively working on sustainable development – all organizers must be ready to meet carbon neutrality standards by 2030.

Events accommodating 450–500 thousand people will face challenges in energy, overall governance and everything else. We are working seriously on these issues, and organizers must act in coordination. Those who are not ready will not be able to host a round.”
