Formula E: Joel Eriksson – Envision's new driver

Next season Sebastien Buemi’s new teammate at Envision Racing will be Joel Eriksson, a 27-year-old Swede who has already driven the team’s cars in testing and who competed at last year’s Berlin round of the electric series. On both occasions he made a good impression on the British–Chinese team and has now signed a multi-year contract with them.

But Eriksson’s experience in Formula E does not end there: in 2021 he raced in eight events for Dragon/Penske, and last season he worked with Jaguar as a reserve driver. At one time Joel competed in DTM for two seasons and won a race at Misano, and earlier, in 2015, he got his start in motorsport in the Russian SMP Formula 4 series.

Joel Eriksson: “I’m pleased to have signed with Envision Racing; this is a very important moment in my career and something I’ve long aspired to. I’m grateful to the team for their trust and am already looking forward to the start of my first full season in Formula E.”

Until this year Robin Frijns raced for Envision, but the team decided to end its collaboration with the experienced Dutchman, a move that became known in mid‑August.
