      Fernando Alonso: "If the race distance is too short, like in sprint races, and because of an unlucky qualifying you start at the back, there's simply no time to fight back. In such conditions all drivers' tyres are worn to the same degree, you have no opportunity to change anything. Long races give that opportunity by offering greater freedom in strategy choice.

      Perhaps the best solution would be to bring back refuelling. I understand that Formula 1 is moving in a completely different direction now, but when you can choose the amount of fuel in the tanks, use different strategies, it completely changes the course of the race, adding intrigue."
