Bearman and Sainz urge the FIA for consistent application.

"I need to be cautious in the next four races"

Oliver Bearman acknowledges the pressure to modify his racing strategy as he approaches a potential one-race suspension. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz appreciates the FIA's decision to revoke his penalty from Zandvoort.

The rookie from Haas now has accumulated ten penalty points on his super licence following his incident with Sainz at Monza, leaving him just two points shy of an automatic ban. "That's on my mind," the 20-year-old confessed in Baku. "I need to be careful in the next four races. If something like what happened with Carlos occurs again, I would be out."

Bearman takes responsibility for his points but feels some penalties have been severe. "I made a very dangerous error at Silverstone - I deserved those four points. The rest is up for debate," he stated. He contended that it's not feasible for drivers to adhere to every guideline during intense moments. "In that split second, you're not considering the three pages of instructions we received in January."

Bearman has joined others in advocating for permanent FIA stewards to ensure greater consistency. "Considering the size, significance, and financial stakes in this sport, consistency is crucial," he remarked. "Having the same officials every weekend would be very beneficial."

Meanwhile, Sainz has recently benefited from the FIA’s seldom-used review process. Following Williams' submission of new onboard footage, his two licence points were rescinded. "For me, this is a significant development," Sainz commented. "It shows the mechanism serves a purpose. This case was clear-cut."

He also urged Formula 1 to consider having permanent stewards. "If I knew the referee was the same at every race, it would be easier to identify patterns," he clarified. "Two permanent stewards and one rotating would suffice. There's ample funding in the sport to make this happen."
