Alpine's choice for 2026 has been narrowed down to two candidates.
In a recent interview, Alpine's deputy team principal Flavio Briatore named the two drivers he is choosing between to be Pierre Gasly's teammate for 2026. As it turned out, Flavio is choosing between Franco Colapinto and Paul Aron, not considering any other candidates.
Flavio Briatore: "The choice is between Franco and Paul. Paul is not only a nice young man but also a very fast driver. I have to figure out which of them will be the best choice for the team.
I want to say that I'm not interested in anyone else anymore. People used to drive me crazy with their complaints because I managed the careers of half the drivers on the grid. Now I'm nobody's manager.
I'm not concerned about anything. I'm only interested in putting the best available driver behind the wheel, someone who will do an excellent job for us. It's simple.
I need one or two more races to make the decision. But today I don't know which of the two I will choose. Honestly."
