Gasly: Nothing worked out for us in Baku either.
Alpine drivers finished at the back of the Baku race classification, a lap down to the winner…
Pierre Gasly (18th): “A tough day, unlucky for our team. We lacked pace over the weekend. This circuit proved even more difficult for us than at previous rounds, but even with this car we shouldn’t have finished so far from the leaders. We have some ideas about where we’re losing out and what needs improving, but nothing worked in Baku either, which has become a trend over recent weekends. Right now I don’t feel as comfortable in the car as at the start of the season. I’m sure we’ll sit down together, focus on the work and be able to perform better at the next race.”
Franco Colapinto (19th): “First of all, thanks to the whole team who worked hard to get the car ready for the start after yesterday’s crash. It was a big effort that showed the team’s unity in tough moments. It’s a shame we couldn’t reward the mechanics with a good result. We knew the race would be difficult for us, and so it turned out. With our car everything has to go perfectly and we have to get lucky — and today we weren’t lucky. I had a good start and did everything I could in the race. After the first pit stop I was fighting with Alex Albon; the car got turned around, which cost me time. After that the car behaved differently, possibly having taken some minor damage. We need to keep working hard in the upcoming races, taking every opportunity we can.”
