One of Michael Schumacher’s racing suits, which the seven-time world champion wore in 2000, was sold at auction for almost €100,000.
It was the suit Schumacher wore at the Hungarian Grand Prix. That race was won by Mika Häkkinen, and Schumacher finished second nearly eight seconds behind. At auction the suit fetched an impressive sum — €95,650.
Another lot, also a Schumacher suit but from 1995 when he was with Benetton, went under the hammer for €61,360. In addition, a replica of the German driver’s 2003 racing helmet with an autograph on the visor found a new owner — €11,250.
The auction took place during the Italian Grand Prix in the Michael Schumacher suite with the support of auction house Bonhams, and a substantial portion of the proceeds was donated to the Keep Fighting Foundation, founded by the seven-time world champion’s family.
