Verstappen debuts in GT3 at the Nordschleife.

"It is my passion to participate in these kinds of GT3 races as well."

Max Verstappen will take a significant step into endurance racing this weekend by making his GT3 debut at the renowned Nurburgring Nordschleife. The reigning four-time world champion has expressed a desire to broaden his racing pursuits beyond Formula 1 and is prepared to compete in Saturday’s four-hour NLS round with Emil Frey Racing in a Ferrari 296 GT3. He will share the car with British driver Chris Lulham, all while sporting Verstappen.com Racing’s Red Bull-branded colors.

"I’m really looking forward to this opportunity, as racing is my passion, even outside of Formula 1. Every lap at the Nordschleife offers a unique experience. My ultimate goal is to participate in the 24-hour race held here," the 27-year-old stated on his official website.

The Dutch driver has accumulated thousands of virtual laps on the 24.3-kilometer course, often referenced as the "Green Hell," and he tested the Ferrari earlier this year under the name Franz Hermann. Earlier this month, he obtained the DMSB Permit Nordschleife, which is a special license required to compete in GT3 vehicles at this track.

"This circuit is extremely demanding and challenging due to its vast length and historic layout," Verstappen clarified. His appearance at the Nordschleife comes after a humble attempt to qualify for his permit, as part of his preparation for a potential bid at the Nurburgring 24 Hours in 2026.
