Villeneuve: It's time for McLaren to make a decision.
1997 Formula 1 champion and Sky Sport F1 commentator Jacques Villeneuve believes McLaren should stop trying to be even‑handed and give priority to one of their drivers so as not to lose the title...
Jacques Villeneuve: "The difficulty for Norris is that if Verstappen keeps getting closer, the team will have to give priority to Piastri because he has the greater advantage.
McLaren need to make a decision. Now the title fight will be contested by two different teams. And it will be a tough battle for them, because Max is the best driver in the world. Max's win in Azerbaijan put him back in the title fight, and he's not the sort to give in to pressure. Verstappen will increase the pressure on both McLaren drivers, and it will be tougher for Norris.
Max is behind, he's the chaser, he's on McLaren's heels and he knows exactly where their weaknesses are. With the latest car upgrades, Red Bull have been able to turn the situation around; they are delivering excellent results under pressure. They are real fighters. Last year McLaren showed they were not yet ready for this kind of fight, and now they are feeling it again."
