The Singapore race could break the attendance record.
At the Singapore round of the championship the official attendance record was set in 2022 – 302,000 spectators visited the Marina Bay street circuit over the three days of the weekend. A year ago, in 2024, the figures were somewhat more modest, around 269,000, but it seems a new record could be set now.
First, all tickets for the upcoming Grand Prix were sold out roughly six months ago; second, organizers recently announced that they had found a way to release additional tickets in limited numbers. According to official information, this is being done to prevent sales on the secondary market.
Moreover, a small number of tickets for certain grandstands and for the general admission areas will be available for purchase at the circuit ticket offices from October 3 to 5, i.e., during the race weekend itself.
Naturally, if the championship battle unfolds as it has this year, with two McLaren drivers fighting for the title while Max Verstappen has taken two consecutive wins in Monza and Baku, cutting the gap to the championship leader, Oscar Piastri, it is not surprising that interest in each of the seven remaining rounds will be extremely high.
Finally, the cultural program during the race weekend in Singapore will be unprecedentedly rich and attractive. One could say that next weekend the city‑state will host a parade of global showbiz stars.
To name only the most prominent celebrities: on Saturday there will be concerts by the rock band Foo Fighters, which can safely be called legendary, and by Crowded House – the Australian veterans who several years ago returned to the music scene in a new lineup.
On Sunday the main stage will first feature the famous American band The Smashing Pumpkins, followed by the hugely popular Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, whose videos have amassed billions of views on YouTube, and the concert program will be closed by Sir Elton John, who officially ended his career a couple of years ago but still occasionally returns to the piano for special occasions. He likely considered the Singapore Grand Prix to be such an occasion.
All of the above suggests that Singapore could set a new attendance record in 2025.
