Max Verstappen's team won the race at the Nürburgring.

Perhaps only someone who has driven a four-hour race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife can say which half of its distance is easier — the first or the second. In any case, today Max Verstappen piloted a Ferrari 296 GT3 from the start and by lap 15 had stretched his lead over the nearest pursuers to just over a minute. Then his teammate, Chris Lalham, took over and the gap Max had created shrank almost threefold — to 23 seconds. However, the British driver then picked up the pace and again began gradually increasing the distance to the No. 9 Ford Mustang GT3 driven by Yann Mardenborough. When Lalham began the final, 28th lap, he was nearly 28 seconds ahead of the white Ford, and the likelihood that Mardenborough could claw back that deficit was extremely slim. It all ended with Max Verstappen and his teammate taking an impressive victory in their debut race on this track: their car crossed the finish line 24.496 seconds ahead of everyone else. Thus the four-time world champion and Red Bull Racing driver added another achievement he had long dreamed of to his long list of successes.
